SemaConnect is a technology company specializing in automation solutions for the automobile industry. Our patent pending technology helps to automate the charging process for electric vehicles and plug-in hybrid vehicles.
With oil breaking the $100 a barrel mark, and global concern over climate change becoming more pronounced, the automotive industry is under pressure to change from its reliance on fossil fuels to other fuel sources. The auto industry has responded with initiatives encompassing virtually the entire range of options such as hydrogen powered cars, electric hybrids, clean diesel engines, and electric vehicles. However, of all the available alternatives, it is increasingly becoming clear that electric cars and plug-in hybrid cars (which use both an internal combustion engine and an electric motor) are the most practical choice because of their proven efficiency in delivering lower costs, significantly reducing emissions and meeting consumer expectations. Additionally, the infrastructure to introduce these types of vehicles already exists in the form of our electric grid.These new vehicles face multiple challenges such as limited range, the obstacle of consumer behavior change required to plug these vehicles in on a daily basis, and metering and billing the electricity usage for recharging. SemaConnect's innovative patent-pending technology solves these problems by automating the charging of electric cars and plug-in bybrids, and providing metering/billing capability. Our technology thus removes some of the most significant obstacles in the move toward EVs and PHEVs gaining widespread consumer acceptance.
