2021 has come to a close, and what a year it has been! Not only did we pass 14,000 SemaConnect charging stations in North America, but we also doubled our team and introduced several new products. As seen in our Twitter #SemaConnect2021 Year in Review, here are some of the biggest highlights from 2021.
New Charging Stations for Businesses and Drivers
This year, SemaConnect introduced three new Level 2 charging stations: the Series 4, a flexible home EV charger; the Series 7 Plus, a high-powered fleet charging station; and the Series 8, a smart solution for retail and public charging. With options ranging from 30 to 80 amp, we offer more options for businesses and homeowners, helping more EV drivers stay charged up.
New EV Legislation
The Biden-Harris Administration promised to prioritize electric vehicles, beginning with a vow to electrify the federal fleet. Then last month, Congress passed the bipartisan Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA), which designates $7.5 billion for electric vehicle infrastructure. Finally, a few weeks ago, Vice President Harris released the White House’s Electric Vehicle Action Plan, which provides more information on how the IIJA’s $7.5 billion will be administered.
Major Visits with Government Leaders
Multiple Maryland representatives visited the SemaConnect headquarters or met with our executive team at events throughout the year. The biggest event took place on December 13. Our CEO, Mahi Reddy, was invited to an event with Vice President Harris to promote the EV charging industry. In fact, we were the only EV charging company invited! We were honored to demonstrate our technology and discuss the future of EVs.
Finally, we doubled the size of our team this year in the United States and India! SemaConnect EV charging stations are assembled in a workshop at our headquarters in Bowie, Maryland, and we hired more technicians, engineers, sales managers, customer service representatives, marketers, and more. We’re working to expand our services to our customers and benefits to our employees. We even won Comparably awards for Best Compensation and Best CEO!
